[Intro Music] Welcome to this step-by-step tutorial on updating dimension metadata using the Dimension Editor in Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud. You can add or update dimension metadata in a new or existing application by importing flat files. You can also edit dimensions manually in Dimension Management. In this tutorial, we’ll concentrate on updating dimensions manually. We’re working with the existing sample application, but dimension editing procedures are the same for custom applications. You view your dimension details on the Dimension Management screen Here, you can see the list of dimensions, how many members in each dimension, and when it was last updated. Notice that the Product dimension has 11 members. You open the Dimension Editor by clicking the dimension name. Hierarchy management options for the selected member are displayed above the dimension hierarchy. You can add a child, copy the member, move the member to a different parent, delete the member, and move the member up or down among its siblings. I’ll add a new product by copying the Custom Cruiser member. The copy is displayed at the bottom of the list of siblings. Selecting a member lets you view and edit its properties in the right half of the editor. I’ll change the name and alias of the copied member. Let’s say that lightweight cruisers require special finishing. In the product UDA row, I’ll click “Select a Member” to select from a list of user-defined attributes. You can select values for the member’s data storage, hierarchy type, consolidation operator, and solve order. And you can enter a comment or a member formula. I’ll save my changes. Let’s say I want to separate the bike trailers from the cruisers. I’ll add another hierarchy level with members for the total of cruisers and trailers. Next, I’ll reparent the products to their respective totals. Note: Because you can only select one member at a time, large-scale dimension updates are easier to upload in a flat file. I’ll save my changes and close the Product dimension. When I refresh the dimension list, I can see the Product dimension now has 14 members. Note that changes you make in the Dimension Editor are applied immediately, and no warnings are generated if your changes affect existing rules or analysis views. As a best practice, you should redeploy the application and validate and recalculate rules to see fresh calculation results.
