Adding User Features to a Web Site : How to Make Text on a Web Page Blink Off & On

Did you know the blinking text is responsible
for many earthquakes and tsunamis? Hi, I’m Dan Afonso of Afonso Consulting and Enfold
IT and I’m going to teach you how to make blinking text on the web page. Blinking text
on a web page started off with Netscape Navigator back in the day when they decided that it
would be good to have things that would catch your attention. This was of course never overused
and never very annoying. Unfortunately, they still support it. It’s actually not that tough
to do. What we’re going to do is we’re going to go into our HTML. I’m going to go down
to the actual part of it and over here where it says this is not on my home page, I’m going
to insert the blink tag.
Save this, and when I reload “this is not”, now blinks, just as you’d expect. Now, let’s
bring up Internet Explorer for a second and look at the same page and sure enough it does
not blink in there. Now just in case you think you’re foiled there’s actually a way around
this. You can put a little bit of Java script code in your file that will actually take
care of this. So what I’m going to do here is I’m going to insert the code, right about
here in my file and that’s that and then the body tag, I’m going to tell to “load this
code.” So, that says it’s going to be on load, okay all set and behold the glory, blinking
text on Internet Explorer. Do your worst Internet, do your worst. I’m Dan Afonso and this has
been how to create blinking text in a web browser.
